Linen is a fabric made from pure flax yarn. For centuries, linen fabrics were used in ancient Egypt and the Middle East, and its unique qualities have made it a highly prized fabric throughout the world to this day.

The properties of linen include:

– high resistance to friction and stretching,
– strength,
– anti-bacterial and anti-allergenic,
– linen is breathable and does not electrify. It has antistatic properties (does not attract dust),
– absorbs moisture (high hygroscopicity) – it can absorb water up to 20% of its weight and still remain dry to the touch,
– biodegradable. Linen fibers do not contain admixtures harmful to humans, are environmentally friendly and biodegradable;
– properly worn fabric provides a feeling of coolness in hot weather,
– linen tolerates high temperatures, water and sun very well,
– it is easy to care for.

With washing and ironing, the linen fabric becomes softer and more pleasant to the touch. As linen is not very elastic, it does not return to its previous shape, it is prone to creasing. Ironing isn’t necessary, however if you prefer ironing do so, we recommend to do it with a steam iron of at least 2000W. It is easiest when the fabric is still slightly damp. When ironing, pay attention to the beautiful smell – especially with thick linen, like this one.

Linen ideally should be washed by hand in temperature up to 30 degrees Celsius, using preferably an organic or gentle environmentally friendly detergent, even grey soap. The gentle way of washing will make the linen keep its unique qualities for a longer time, and the oil that penetrates and protects the fibers will not be washed out so easily.

Therefore soak the fabric for 2-4 hours, then squeeze it out, rinse it, hang it carefully on a hanger or flat and smooth it out with your hands. Careful unfolding of the fabric and ironing while the fabric is still slightly damp reduces the time it takes to iron or, as said above, makes ironing unnecessary.
